Resolution
The work of the IXth World Congress of the IAFT in Grenoble/Lyon (France) focused on two main themes: bringing justice to the victims of the crimes of the Churches and organising an international network of solidarity with Freethinkers who are victims of repression and social hardship.
International Declaration
The IXth Congress of the International Association of the Free Thought (IAFT), meeting in France, has decided to take full part in the 120thanniversary of the great French law of Separation of Churches and State of 9 December 1905.

The 9th World Congress of the International Association of Free Thought Supports and demands The request for the rehabilitation of Francisco Ferrer and the annulment of the sentence that led to his execution by firing squad in the moats of Montjuïc Fort in Barcelona.
The 9th World Congress of the International Association of Freethought, held on 10 and 11 October 2025 in Grenoble (France), strongly condemns the genocide in Palestine, denouncing violations of international law, the use of violence against an unarmed civilian population, and the exploitation of religions to justify injustice.
For the release of Azat Miftakhov
Russian mathematician Azat Miftakhov, who was a doctoral student in Moscow, has been in prison in his country since 2019, sentenced to six years in prison for the first time in 2021 for breaking a window in an office of United Russia, the ruling political party. Released in 2023, he was re-arrested the same day for ‘glorifying terrorism’ in a conversation with a fellow prisoner and sentenced to four years in prison. From the outset, the international mathematical community has rallied in support of Azat Miftakhov, and Russia was condemned by the European Court of Human Rights on 13 September 2023.
